  • Cats just naturally scratch. It’s not something they do just to get to you, they’re trying to keep their claws in shape and stretch their muscles. They don’t have any idea that they might be ruining your expensive furniture.

When your cat feels like scratching, he won’t be picky. In his natural outdoor habitat, he’ll scratch on anything that’s handy. A tree trunk, a downed log, or a fence post suit just fine. Unless you have things like that in your home — and who does? — he’ll pick the next best thing. That may be the wooden legs on your dining table or the couch covered with the most satisfying fabric to hook little claws into.

You could declaw your cat, but there are other, less traumatic, ways to save your furniture. Cat scratcher toys offer the same satisfaction that cats get from hooking into your couch. The scratching surfaces allow those claws to grab hold so the cat gets a good stretch and the claws get conditioned.

Try placing a scratcher toy or two near your cat’s favorite scratching furniture to give him an option. If necessary, scent it with some catnip to attract his attention. Your cat gets to scratch without being yelled at and you get to have nice furniture. Everybody’s happy!

  • Cat lovers are a special breed — their cats are like their children. They like to see their cats happy, so a gift for the cat is like a gift for the cat lover. Show the cat lover in your life that you understand their feline attachment by presenting them with a gift for their cat.

You can choose a cat gift geared toward cat health or cat fun. Cat water fountains are an excellent choice to show you care about the health of the cat. These fountains make water available that is constantly running — that keeps the water fresher, and cats are more likely to drink a healthy amount.
For cat fun, a Turbo Scratcher will keep cats active and entertained for hours; there are other styles of cat scratcher toys, too.

One thing cats really like is climbing up high to survey their surroundings, so an indoor cat tree makes a thoughtful cat gift. Make the cat lover happy at the same time by going beyond the basic everyday cat climber and buying an exciting unique cat tree like none other.

Another cat gift that would make the cat lover happy is something that helps control the cat litter situation. Cat litterbox furniture conceals the cat box mess and helps contain odors. Who wouldn’t love that?

Beyond these basics, you can find a whole litter of gifts like cat t-shirts, cat mugs, cat figurines, and Christmas cat products at Cat Gifts For Cat Lovers.

  • I guess if you’re going to just lounge around, a cat scratcher bed is the best place to do it. At least there’s the option of scratching and stretching if the notion strikes. But for active cats, a much better choice is Bergan’s Cat Turbo Scratcher.

The cat Turbo Scratcher is more than just a scratching pad. That’s good in itself, but this cat toy adds an irresistible ball running around a track. Cats just can’t get enough of chasing the ball as it zips ’round and ’round. The center scratcher pad lasts a long time, but replacements are readily available.

If you want a gift for your cat that will occupy him or her for hours, buy a cat Turbo Scratcher by Bergan. And stock up on catnip to sprinkle on the scratcher pad…your cat will be in seventh heaven.

  • Along the lines of a gift that is good for the cat, and also for the cat person, is a cat scratcher toy. I’m not into strenuous exercise or primping, so these cat toys are a good choice for me…or for cats like me. (My favorite is a scratcher bed.)

Cat scratcher toys help your cat keep its claws clean and healthy. Not only that, but the action of digging in and pulling back stretches the muscles to keep your cat limber and flexible.

Cat owners like cat scratchers because they give the cat someplace to scratch other than the furniture. Scratching is a natural and instinctive activity, so it’s not fair to get angry with your cat. Just provide one of these popular cat scratcher toys, and everyone will be happy. What more can you ask for from a Christmas gift?

  • I think Harry is right…cats do give a lot to their humans all year long. I’m sure every cat owner wants to buy their cat a Christmas gift to show their appreciation. And a cat tree is a great gift idea! But I don’t go for the natural look — or for the ordinary. There are plenty of cats, as well as their humans, who would prefer a unique cat tree.

I don’t know any self-respecting cat who would really like using one of those ordinary, blocky-looking, beige-covered cat climbers. And what cat owner wants one of those in their home? Harry’s natural-looking indoor cat trees are better, but if we live inside, why try to pretend we’re outside climbing trees? Your cat can get all the benefits of a cat tree and still be an individual with one of the many unique cat trees available.

I love the whimsical cat trees that look like something out of a fairytale. The mushroom and beanstalk cat trees are covered with a cushy layer of carpeting and sculptured into a fun addition to any room. Or maybe your cat is artistic or minimalist; there are unique cat trees for their (and your) taste, too. Take a look, and buy the perfect gift for your cat this year. There’s still plenty of time before Christmas!

  • It’s time once again for our humans to gift their loved ones to show how much they care. I sure hope they remember to show their cats how much they love and appreciate them. We cats offer so much companionship and unconditional love throughout the year. One of my favorite gifts for cats is an indoor cat tree.

If you love your cat, you want to provide everything it needs for a happy, healthy life. An indoor cat tree goes a long way toward your cat’s well-being. It encourages activity for a healthy body, and it satisfies the natural need to climb up high.

Though cat trees are available in all sizes, configurations, and materials, my very favorite is an indoor cat tree that looks like a real tree. I like the natural look; it makes me feel like a real jungle cat. They come in seedling and sapling sizes, as well as a tall tree. Which natural indoor cat tree would your cat like best?

  • Well, for once Harry and I agree on something — we both like to keep our claws in good shape. But while he likes to do it lying down on one of the cat scratcher beds, I prefer the Bergan Turbo Scratcher. And not just because it’s the most popular, although I do like being au courant. I like it because it has the added appeal of physical activity. It’s so important to stay fit.

So I found this page that tells about Bergan’s cat turbo scratcher. It just makes me want to drag my person out to get one. But as I read on down the page, I saw that Bergan makes other cat products, too. And just look at the Turbo Track cat toy. Why, I could get such a good workout chasing that ball around the track, and I’d have so much fun doing it I’d never realize I was breaking a sweat.

But what I’m really hoping my person will see (I’m leaving this on the computer monitor for her) is the Cosmic Catnip. Oh, I’ve heard about that stuff. It’s the best! My mouth waters just thinking about it. Now don’t jump to conclusions. I’m just a recreational user. I can handle it. I just figure if you’re going to use it, you might as well get the premium stuff.

  • I’m no different than any cat, really. I have the same instincts and needs. One of those needs is scratching. I need to keep my claws manicured and healthy. My human doesn’t like it when I claw on the furniture, so these cat scratchers are just the thing.

Cat scratchers come in lots of different styles for any cat’s preference. The most popular is the Bergan Turbo Scratcher cat toy. It lies flat on the floor and has the added attraction of a ball that runs in a track around the outside. I hear it can keep cats occupied for hours. It’s a little too much activity for me, though. I’d just use the scratcher part.

Then there are cat scratching posts. Those are quite popular, too. Most of them are covered with that tough sisal material, which is good for scratching. Some cats really like reaching up high and getting a good stretch as they dig in their claws and pull.

Incline scratchers are somewhere in between — not flat on the floor, and not vertical. They give a cat’s muscles a nice stretch, but keep it close to the floor for quick get-aways. Lots of these incline cat scratchers have a hidey-hole in the base for toys.

I have to admit, though, my very favorite scratcher toy is the cat scratcher bed. I can clean my claws without even getting up. The surface feels nice and gives a luxurious massage when I roll around on it. Add a touch of catnip, and I’m off to dreamy ecstasy.

I highly recommend getting a cat scratcher toy for your cat. It will keep the claws healthy, provide activity, and protect your furniture. Because it’s really not fair to get mad at your cat for carrying out an instinctive need.
