I’ve given it two stars because of the incredible overpricing and the nearly as incredibly poor directions. Since it works (so far), I’ve given it two stars as opposed to one. The poor quality has made me feel very cheated on the price.
The plastic really is unbelievably thin, and if you followed the directions for installing the battery (I think the directions are for the full-sized version, not the smaller 3/4 version that I bought), you would break it. The directions don’t mention that you must remove a screw BEFORE pressing up on that thin, brittle-feeling plastic to take the back off – if you didn’t notice the screw, I’m sure the back would break. Fortunately, I noticed the screw, and removed it first – and yes, it DOES have to be removed before the back will come off. The directions then say to insert two size C batteries, but this model actually takes one size A battery.
The directions also tell you to be careful putting on the tail, since the plastic is very thin and will break easily (see, I told you so). In addition, they say that the tail will snap on, and it doesn’t – it just rests on a bar. If you tried to snap it onto the bar, it would break.
Obviously, the directions don’t tell you that after inserting the battery, you must replace the screw to hold the back on, since they never mentioned the screw at all.
At the very end, the directions say that now the clock will give you HOURS of enjoyment. I sincerely hope that it will run for months, not hours, on one battery, but since I’ve just hung it up, we’ll have to see.
The clock DOES work – the eyes and tail move smoothly and it’s kept time correctly for the few minutes it’s been running so far – which is why I’m keeping it. I’ve wanted one of these forever, so as of right now, I’m willing to have overpaid in order to have one. Bear in mind, though, that I also feel that I’ve overpaid by a huge margin. If it doesn’t run for at least a full month on one battery (meaning that in addition to keeping correct time, the eyes and tail have to continue to move smoothly – not so much to ask what with that incredibly light, cheap plastic), I intend to return it. I’m only willing to feel this cheated on the price if it works perfectly.
UPDATE: The battery lasted a little less than 6 months, and while the eyes and tail continued to move, the clock stopped keeping time. I was quite concerned, thinking that the clock mechanism had died somehow, but replacing the battery fixed the problem.

I feel myself getting hypnotized just watching it’s eyes and tail go back and forth..and back and forth..and back and.. woah almost lost it there. Anyways, the clock is in perfect condition and, although it’s pretty light and might seem flimsy, it’s on the wall, so there’s no reason for it to be bulky and strong as steel.
