   After purchasing two smaller Armarkat trees, and being pleased all around, it was time for a big one. And this IS. It makes a substantial footprint and it quite stable. At 70 pounds, and made of plywood, it can take some heavy duty cat-action. The fleece can be easily vacuumed and spot-cleaned with a damp sponge. Don’t be intimidated by the big box it comes in, all models of Armarkat I’ve purchased (5) have been a snap to put together and this was no different. (Tools like an allen wrench/wrench are always included. So are a couple of little toys.)
   
   The cats were playing on this as I was putting it together…the most difficult part of assembly.

   I have two young active cats and the best thing we’ve ever purchased for them is their cat condo. We got an Amarkat B7701.

   Her are the specifications, though you may notice it says covered w/ ‘faux fleece”–that’s just the parts they sit on, obviously, and I don’t know why the sissel isn’t mentioned because all the posts are well covered with it:

   The product description doesn’t mention the two “cubicles” which I think are a key factor in the constant use of this by our cats. The two “cubicles” are small “houses” w/ openings where they can go in and rest or sleep and feel like they are safe, quiet and secure. Most cats I’ve had seem to prefer sleeping up high, and this allows them that, as well as feeling as if they are “hidden” and unseen. As we all know cats love to hide in any small area: a box, brown grocery bag, drawer, etc. This gives them that element.

   They can get into one together (as they are right now as I write this, cuddled up together and sleeping) or sleep or just rest separately one in each cubicle. I looked over many pet sites, online, in catalogs, and in pet stores, and this seemed by far the best, and at a FAR better price than the pet stores sell this type of thing for.

   This has a lot of sisel on it,on each pole (I may not be spelling it correctly) which is said by many cat experts to be their favorite “scratching” material. The tallest poles, covered with sisel, are the bottom ones, on the base of the condo. The tallest one is tall enough for an adult cat to stand and scratch, which is ideal. Many pet stores sell “cat scratching posts” which are far to short, and also are covered in a carpet material. These are probably better than nothing for the cat, but not ideal.

   (BTW I cut up a “Mysterious Purr Pad” —if you’ve ever noticed those in the stores or online, most cats LOVE them to sleep on, although to humans they’re scratchy and not “soft”—I cut it up and placed half on the floor of one cubicle and half on the floor of the other. (When I started, I experimented and only put on purr pad in one cubicle,and that was the only one they used, until I put the other piece in the other cubicle.)
   
   The “Purr Pad” or “mysterious purr pad” is also found on Amazon under cat toys and bedding.

   I just wish I’d spent the money and gotten a cat condo for my former cat, who passed away at age 21 in Sept. This one sits by a Family Room window so they can see out, watch everything, and if the weather is nice and I open the window (screened of course) they really get excited with all the “smells” of outside.

   I think when cats are totally and life-long indoor cats, as mine are, it is really required for the humans in their lives to provide them with items and toys to keep them mentally and physically alert, and active. Of course everything doesn’t need to cost this much: right now an empty plastic water bottle is on the floor, and was put there to be used as a toy, which it has been all day. A week ago they had several boxes to hide in and jump in and out of (the biggest was probably 4′ tall, and that was their favorite). However I’ll say I think the cat condo was the best item we’ve ever bought any cat, and worth any number of the smaller toys which are looked at or played with once or twice then just sit there!

   Update on this review: am adding one more star…I’ve had it for 2 years and a bit and although still not very stable, my youngest cats use it daily…They absolutely adore watching the birds from up high….

   “I bought it based on the amazon reviews and I am a bit disappointed by it. My cats did not use it at all the first month. After a while, the kitten started sleeping on the highest tower. My problem with it, is that it is not stable. My big cat is used to jumping from the floor onto the highest branch and you cannot really do this with this structure. It is very wobbly and I would not purchase it again. I will just keep it for a while, though, because they tend to like it when it comes to just using it as a bed/house. But this is definitely not good for active cats that love to play and want to use it as a cat gym. I bought one from Petco a long time ago that was very stable and I might just have to find something similar to that one again. The problem is, this one was the only one I found that had so many levels and my cats love to be up high, and that it didn’t cost me an arm and a leg. Overall, it is just an ok item to have around the house.”

   My cat’s love it ! It is a bit wobbly but that’s okay. The fabric and plywood is okay. I had problems contacting this seller,asking for the tracking number.I did recieve it within the arrival estimate.The price/shipping price was kind of high.

   The customer service I recieved from COASTAL PET SUPPLIES was horrible. Had a simple return and they gave me teh run around. Buy directly from the company. Cheaper shipping as well.
