  • About Cat Emporium

Hello, and welcome to Harry and Lloyd’s Cat Emporium, where you’ll find fun and helpful information about cat supplies, cat play, cat health, and whatever happens to strike our cat fancy.

Harry and Lloyd are brothers, though you may not guess it. They are very different in looks, actions, and preferences. Rescued as kittens from a local cat shelter, and very grateful for being saved from a life of destitution, they are forever fascinated with the myriad cat merchandise available. They started Cat Emporium as a way to share their discoveries with the world. Guest posts at Harry and Lloyd’s Cat Emporium will be provided periodically by their older step-brother, Neko.

    Harry

Hi, I’m Harry. I’m a laid-back, down-to-earth kind of cat. I like breakfast, sleeping, dinner, and animal shows on TV. And snacks. I don’t like dogs. I think there’s nothing better than relaxing on a nice, cushiony sofa…unless it is a full dinner dish. Sometimes I wonder if Lloyd and I are really brothers; he has gotten such high-falutin’ ideas, while I’m just an ordinary kind of guy. But despite our differences, I still love him. Why, I remember when we first came to our home. I often had bad dreams about our time in the shelter, and Lloyd was always there to comfort me. Anyway, I’ll be looking at and reporting on the more ordinary cat products, because I don’t think anyone needs more than the basic comforts in life — like dinner.

Hello, everyone. I’m Lloyd. I like to think I’m a little more sophisticated than most cats. I mean, really, why shouldn’t we rise above the basics and enjoy what the world has to offer? I like dinner, too, but I don’t have time to obsess about it; there’s so many other things to do in life — like chase that little dog around the house. And I’m determined to catch that dazzling red laser light; I think it would look stunning if I could wear it against my black coat (you should see it when I wear my red claw covers — to die for!). Sometimes I get frustrated with Harry. He could be so much more handsome if he’d just get a little more exercise and carry himself better. I really wish he hadn’t posted that picture of me drying his tears — “mothering” isn’t the image I want to portray for myself. But yes, I love my brother…no one but a sibling can truly understand where you came from and what you’ve been through. I prefer to leave that past behind, so I’ll be presenting some of the finer things in cat life. We all deserve a little luxury.

Ah, yes…I remember the days when I was an only child. Life was so peaceful and uncomplicated. Then these little step-brothers came into my home. To tell the truth, I wasn’t thrilled with the idea at first, but Harry and Lloyd are really lovable little guys, each in his own way, and I shudder to think what might have become of them if they hadn’t been rescued from the cat shelter. When I heard they were planning this cat products site, I thought it seemed a little shallow. There’s more to life than shopping. But they’re young. I’m an older, more experienced world traveler. I lived two years in Japan and four years in England, and now I live in New Mexico. I offered to do some guest posts on the site, hoping to add some substance. I’ll pop in now and then to address more serious issues like cat rescue, cat health, and maybe some cultural subjects like cat breeds and history.
